What is ABA?

Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a research-backed teaching framework that uses behavioral principles to help children develop meaningful new skills.

Children and their families work with a compassionate team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) who provide personalized, one-on-one therapy to support each child’s strengths, needs, and goals.

Little Bee’s core ABA therapy methods are Natural Environment Teaching (NET) and Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT). NET is child-led, with RBTs sparking teaching moments during everyday life and play. DTT breaks a skill down into small, achievable steps, uses prompts and reinforcement to teach the skill systematically, and fades prompt support at the child’s unique learning pace.

How can ABA help my child?

ABA therapy is personalized to meet your child’s unique needs. We focus on helping children build skills that support greater confidence, independence, and connection — while partnering closely with families every step of the way.

  • Communication and advocacy: Using vocal or non-vocal communication to express needs, wants, and feelings
  • School readiness: Noticing and following routines, learning through imitation, and pre-academic skills
  • Social skills: Playing with peers, sharing space and activities, and building relationships
  • Self-care and independence: Everyday routines like washing hands, dressing, and cleaning up toys
  • Behavior support: Reduce unsafe behaviors by teaching safe and effective ways to communicate needs

Our goal is to create learning experiences that feel engaging, encouraging, and supportive — helping each child thrive at their own pace.

How are Tx plans personalized?

At Little Bee, we know that every child is unique — and their therapy plan should be, too. That’s why we take the time to truly get to know your child, your family, and the goals that matter most in your everyday life.

Our team works closely with parents and caregivers to create an individualized ABA therapy plan based on your child’s strengths, needs, interests, and developmental goals. For some families, that may mean focusing on communication and social skills. For others, it may look like building independence with daily routines like getting dressed, following directions, or participating in family activities.

As your child grows and progresses, we continuously adjust their treatment plan to support meaningful, real-life success both at home and in the community. We believe the best outcomes happen when therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and centered around what matters most to your family.

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions take place wherever life happens — because each child needs unique support as a member of their unique family and community. That might mean sessions happen at home, in daycare, at school, out in the community, or anywhere your child naturally learns, plays, and grows. We believe meaningful progress happens in real-life moments, not just at a table.

How involved are parents or caregivers in the process?

From the very beginning, families help us design a personalized treatment plan that fits their child’s unique strengths, needs, and daily life. Ongoing participation also helps caregivers understand what’s happening during sessions, how to carry strategies over into everyday routines, and how to support growth even when therapists aren’t around.

Our goal is never just progress during therapy hours — it’s helping families feel confident, informed, and empowered with the ABA tools and knowledge to support their child for the long haul.
